I have six of the above on my system, and slowly over the last week or so they have all started failing. I have replaced batteries, reset and /or rejoined them, but they only ever report temperature. Has there been some update to them? I have even rejoined a couple to my Smartthings hub, and the problem persists. Getting to be a problem now when it gets dark as none of my lights are turning on…
Can you check the devices web page in Hubitat Device Details 'Data' section? There should be a model and manufacturer value for every sensor. The data should look like this:
Does any of the 6 sensors have a filled in manufacturer and model values?
I have had a few original ST Multisensors (circa 2014) fail completely over the past year or so. They are simply dead and will not pair, will not even blink their internal LED, etc... 8-9 years was a pretty good lifespan, especially for mine as they spent some of their life outdoors. ![]()
Not saying this is the same issue you're experiencing... Just a data point.
My Iris v2 motion sensors are rock solid and very quick. Too bad those are no longer manufactured.
One thing to note on ST V2 motion sensors which caused me to throw 2 away before I cauught on.
I had them fail with no LED after changing 2540 batteries multiple times. Turned out the batteries dimensions were off so they made poor or no contact on the side.
I had to install a metal jumper on the battery side until I used up my supply. I now buy known brands that follow the correct dimensions - Panasonic etc.
Interesting. Looking back over the Smartthings forum there are a number of posts saying the same. So I’ve ordered some Panasonic batteries (I needed to re-supply anyway) to see if they make a difference. Interestingly, even with fresh batteries they only ever report 50% or less. We shall see!
I did have a batch of batteries that never registered 100% either at that same time.
Got the name brand and now I get contact and 100%.
Oddly, during the day 3 of the 5 that failed are working again, and reporting motion. Just waiting to see what happens to the remaining 2
