:unamused:
Add this to the pile of examples of broken expectations and why local processing / control should be paramount. I'm not sure how many people actually used this though but it still sucks.

What a joke. My ST Link basically stopped working half a year ago. Every device reported as being offline and they never fixed it. Samsung hasn't released firmware updates for this hub in eons.

I will give them credit for offering a current hub for $35. Obviously they know who has these things. But obviously they know who they screwed half a year ago as well, and left flapping in the wind with a non-functional ha system.

This is why open source solution would be far superior. I know Hubitat is not open source, nor am I pushing for it to be. But I would hope that if anything ever happened with Hubitat that they had to do something so drastic, that they would consider open sourcing it, rather than hanging their customers out to dry.

No company infuriates me as much as Samsung. Everything I have owned with a CPU in it, and the Samsung name brand on it has self-deprecated. My SmartTV, (model UN55ES7150) was exceptionally quick and reliable when I bought it. About 2 years into ownership it started getting slower, and slower. They keep pushing software updates to the device that make it slower and less functional than before. At one point I though I had to buy a new TV, because it would reboot every hour or so. I put it off for nearly 6 months when a software update finally fixed my TV issue.
Add to that my "Smart" Washing machine that isn't supported anymore. I am glad I dumped that SmartThings hub. Allowing Samsung to acquire the brand was the death of the Brand. It's been all down hill.

Thanks to Hubitat, my home is still humming along.
