SmartThings F-OUT-US-2 outlet won't pair

I have a SmartThings F-OUT-US-2 outlet (Samsung SmartThings: Smart Home Hub - F-HUB-US-2 | Samsung US) which I'm migrating from SmartThings over to my Hubitat C-8 pro hub. I removed the outlet from the SmartThings hub, held its button down while plugging it in to factory reset it and put it into pairing mode, and then ran the Zigbee pairing process from the Hubitat app, but it won't find it.

To test it, I re-added it to the SmartThings hub, which it did immediately, so I'm not sure why Hubitat cannot find it.

Oh, I only have 3 other devices connected to the Hubitat hub: a Yale Zwave door lock and 2 Ecobee thermostats connected via the integration API, so this will be my first Zigbee device on the hub.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Simon

What does your setup look like? Do you have Zigbee 3.0 repeaters? If so try "pairing while avoiding Zigbee 3.0 repeaters"

I have no other Zigbee devices - this outlet will be my first one, so I don't knowingly have any repeaters.

How close are you to the hub when attempting to pair it?

On the C-8 Pro, there are a few other pairing options for Zigbee. The Zigbee 3.0 repeater one wouldn’t apply in this case, but if you are pairing the outlet close to the hub and « normal » pairing still isn’t working, I would try the « Pair while exchanging keys in clear » to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks, Sebastian. I’ve tried pairing the outlet from 2 inches away to about 5 feet away and everything in between. I’ll look up how to pair it while exchanging keys in clear.

Just need to click here:

And if that doesn’t work… Try another Zigbee device to ensure the problem is with the device, and not the hub.

Also, what channel are you using? I would recommend avoiding 20. 25 should be good.

Any errors in the logs while pairing?

Any messages in the Hub Events tab within Logs menu about Zigbee Offline?

What channel and power level is your hub at? (Settings tab, Zigbee Details).

That is probably what I would try first, and if that doesn't work give us the information above and someone may have an idea what is going on.

Thank you! I tried pairing a different Zigbee outlet and the hub found it immediately, and I can control it remotely. The hub is using Zigbee channel 23 (I also did a channel scan and 23 had nothing on it), and the Zigbee power setting is set to 8.

I went back and tried pairing the troublesome SmartThings outlet and here are the Hub Events and Logs pages from the app. You can see the other outlet I successfully paired at 3:17:07.011 pm in the Hub Events, and the unsuccessful pairing of the SmartThings outlet in the log following my turning the newly added Living Room Lamp outlet on and off to test it.

Glad to hear one of the devices pairs!

Have you checked the device compatibility list to ensure the problematic one is on the list?

List of Compatible Devices | Hubitat Documentation

Yes, it's on the list - it's actually an F-OUT-US-2, FWIW. It's frustrating because it's the most expensive outlet I've bought (I could buy 8 cheaper ones with the same functionality - well, more functionality since this one currently isn't functioning at all lol!)

Is the Smartthings hub still on? Did you try turning it off while attempting to pair this device?

Did you try a different Zigbee channel on the Hubitat? Ch23 might not be usable by this device. I have heard of other devices that cannot recognize certain channels, unsure if this is one of those though... I would try Ch15 and see what happens.

I changed the Zigbee channel to 15 and it paired immediately, thank you!!

Do I need to leave the hub on Zigbee channel 15 for this device to work properly, or can I change channel if I need to down the line?

I have been able to change the channel back, but if the device isn't happy with Ch23, there isn't much you can do.

Try it and see what happens.

I'll leave it for now since I need this switch to work today. Thanks again for your help!
