Smart thermostat

Hey all,

I'm from Europe (Holland) and looking for a smart thermostat that doesn't interfere with automations in hubitat. From what i've heard Nest's internal automations will fight with other automations. So the other options i found are the "Honeywell Lyric T6" and the "Tado Smart Thermostat".

https://getconnected.honeywell.com/en/t6
https://www.tado.com/gb/products/smart-thermostat-starter-kit

The problem is that i need a wireless thermostat because i don't have any wires from my boiler upstairs running downstairs. Anyone have experience with the 2 thermostats or any other recommendations?

Nest internal Automation? You can turn off all automations in Nest, but why to get such expensive thermostat to turn off all the automations? Ohh well, I did, and I have 2 thermostats, the other one is a Radio thermostat, it's z wave, both are connected to the same A/C and heat system, but I can use one thermostat at a time, basically the Nest is the main thermostat, it is located in my master bedroom, the z wave thermostat is located in the hallway, normal days Nest has the control, days with visit at my home the z wave thermostat has the control but I have to turn off the nest to use the other thermostat.

Now, you are talking of installing a thermostat where there is no cables from your boiler, if you have one boiler for all your house, I believe you just need temperature sensors and one smart thermostat, it's very difficult to have the entire house to a desired temperature with just one system, you will need smart vents, multiple sensors or some home systems are multi zone.

I installed at my friend's house the Radio Thermostat and all the automations are managed by the ST hub, it works just fine. Now I will start to work out of my house, I will do all my automations (presense)to the Nest and HE.

What version of the Radio Thermostat are you using? Did you have to setup a RM refresh rule?

It's the CT101, not yet, I use Nest the most of the time and it has delays too

So in your opinion Nest is a good choice? And yea i only have one boiler for my own apartement, might add some heaters in my bedroom but then i will use z wave switches to control these.

Nest will work, but if you going to turn off all automations plus it will be in a place where the visit can't see it I recomend to get a z wave thermostat, mine was about $45, Nest is about $180, big savings.

I seen here some using the Zen thermostat, it is zigbee if I'm correct.

Good luck

I have used the Zen and I moved to Radio Thermostat. The only issue I had with the Zen is the non-changeable 1.5 degree swing. That means that the temp can "swing" as far as 1.5 degrees from your setting before it turns on the cooling/heating. The Radio Thermostat can be programed with a .5, 1 and 1.5 degree swing.

There is an issue with the Radio in the firmware I have doesn't always update changes (e.g. when the cooling stops). I have ceiling fans that turn on/off or change speed based on the operating state (cooling or heating), so I programmed a refresh ever minute to update Hubitat and manage my fans.

The problem is that most of these thermostats are American and not available in the EU. But i will look for a cheap z wave thermostat, thanks guys
