Smart Recptacle/Switch Combo

Hey all,
I have need to convert a light switch (currently just on a timer) to a switch with a single receptacle. Finding it hard to locate online, any ideas?

Where are you located?

Are you looking for a smart device or do you just need a 1-gang outlet and switch? I'm not aware of anything smart exactly like that, but you could do something similar with an in-wall smart relay, depending on what you're actually using it for...

Canada. Yeah, I'm looking for a 1-gang outlet and switch. Ideally, I want the switch smart because this particular one controls my outdoor soffit plug for the xmas lights. It's just a timer switch right now but I want to run some lighting with the plug there (that part can be dumb). Might be easier to just cut the wall a bit and install a 2-gang box.

I am not aware of any such product. As Robert said use a relay. I have a Qubino dual for a similar purpose, works well.

I would get something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-Decora-15-Amp-Tamper-Resistant-Combo-Switch-and-Outlet-White-R62-T5625-0WS/202027001

and then install something like this in the box behind the switch/outlet combo:

https://www.amazon.com/ENERWAVE-NEUTRAL-REQUIRED-ZWN-RSM2-PLUS-Version/dp/B07KQMGH7X

This will let you control the switch and outlet by z-wave. The outlet would be restricted to 10A load.

That is what I would do. It will be a lot easier to find standard devices, and it will allow you to have 2 plugs instead of one. It might be more important to have additional outlets if this is a garage which often only have 1-2 outlets. You may run into electrical box fill issues if you keep the single gang, especially if this is an older/smaller electrical box.

I try to put in the largest box I can anymore, it isn't worth working with a small (in the case of single gang) 13 cubic inch box when you can for virtually the same cost upgrade to a nearly double as large 22 cubic foot single gang box.

These box fill calculators are for NEC (US electrical code) but surely Canada has similar rules about this.

I could fit a whole roll of romex in that box

Agree this is the best thing to explore first... If it's just plain drywall, it's a surprisingly easy & quick job with the right tools.
