Smart Mailbox

Hey there,

I've tried to make my mailbox smart, using a Sonoff Zigbee motion sensor and door sensor. The rule I've created worked perfectly. The problem I had was the range, so that my sensors didn't report anymore... I life at the first floor. My HE is about 6 meters in direct line to the sensors, but through thick german ferroconcrete. I have a little room directly above my mailbox, where I could place a repeater, about 2,5 meters in direct line. I've made some schematic drawings, giving you a better idea about how everything looks.
Question is:Would this repater be enough or should I use WiFi or Z-Wave devices instead?

I saw this in Santa Monica a number of years ago, only it was mechanical.

Seriously someone who lived on a lot where the front yard had a very steep slope. The person put the mailbox on a clothes line type setup. They could stand on their front porch and pull the mail box up to them !
