Hi,
Any recommendations for a keypad style smart lock please?
Ideally zigbee and with a physical key option too.
Ta!

funny I dont have any recommendations for ya personally but curios timing I saw this thread because I was just wondering if there's any that work with UWB like cars do digital key..
anyway I think this looks interesting ULTRALOQ Bolt Mission: World's First UWB Smart Lock | Award-Winning
I have been running these for several years and I like them.
Kwikset 914
I have 2 of the Yale Assure2 locks w/ Zwave Smart Modules for each. They are great locks and the motors seem quieter than most others that I've come across.
Yup - Kwikset 914s FTW. We have 10 of them here, averaging well over a year between battery changes, and never a problem.
Looks like the 914s might be worth it, ta.
How do these fit in with Hubitat? Full control? Can you add/remove entry codes through sw?
They're the first I'd seen, but I can't stand zwave. Zigbee all the way in this house. =)
I’m very happy with my (three) Yale zigbee deadbolts, but a quick check of their website suggests they’re not on the zigbee train anymore. Bummer.
I have been using the z-wave version of these locks for many years and you can set/enable/disable users and code through the HE Lock Code Manager app.
Not a recommendation but an avoid warning.... I have two Schlage BE469's and would not buy them again. I had a Kwikset for years that was trouble free but I switched so I could key alike the mechanical locks with the keypad..... These are all ZWave locks.
Anyway just too many strange issues with Schlage. Accelerated power draw then that just went way. Lock Codes sent to unit sometimes accepted sometimes not. Its hit or miss and too much experimentation. No OTA support to get lock onto the latest firmware. Lock Code manager doesn't always work. Changing lock code length in the device driver doesn't work, have to do that at the keypad....
In general I don't think Schlage is very committed to ZWave. They seemed to have moved on to WiFi as a priority, not sure about battery life with WiFi.
Update:
For those who want a Schlage style keyset but not all the problems with a Schlage ZWave lock maybe this would work? A Kwikset lock retrofitted with a Schlage SC1 keyway....
To be fair, Kwikset doesn't support that either.
As a "Generic Zigbee Lock".
lock(), unlock(), getCodes(), setCode(), deleteCode() are supported. I do not know if setCodeLength() works with this lock. Deadbolt position and battery life are reported by the lock, but take the latter with a grain of salt.
Yes.
Sort of. I bought two zigbee modules by calling Yale Home about 6-7 months ago. These were for Assure deadbolts.
Deadbolt or Lever? I have two. A yale dead bolt keypad only and a Kwik set lever with a key for inside the garage. Mine are z-wave but the Radio modules are changeable. Zigbee and Wi-Fi modules are also available.
I agree re: Schlage. I was a BE469 owner from my Wink days and it was ‘ok’ with the C5 but was not good with the C7s 700 series radio. Mine did fail and I had it replaced under warranty and sold it immediately.
Since I have been an Alfred DB2 user with the zwave internal add-on. I purchased a new one for the new house we moved into recently.
Works well with LCM.
I just looked on Alfred’s website and they now have a DB2S series that adds zigbee and zwave 800 options.
** Potential thread hijack alert **
I should also note that I would have purchased more than one Alfred lock for the new house but I could only put one on the door leading to the garage. The front and side entrance doors are 8 foot with multi-point locks and I was unsuccessful in finding a compatible smart lock during our built and have not had enough time yet to take another look. But if anyone can point me to a multi-point smart lock for the North American, it would be appreciated.
Snagged one on Ebay, Assure Zigbee Lock and is 10x more reliable than Schlage or Kwikset IMHO
I've been leaning toward switching to Alfred. The only thing holding me back is a seeming lack of velocity on their part with products and the fact that they never returned a response to my simple technical question and availability of the interconnect kit.
Still strongly considering them.
Interesting. I emailed them 2-3 days ago asking how to change the email on my old account (instead of disconnecting it and reconnecting) and I still don’t have a reply.
I can tell you that their phone support is excellent. Years ago I was having an issue where the Alfred lock misbehaving. With Bobby’s help I found out that I had a misbehaving Leviton switch that was affecting my whole mesh, but before that I called their support. They walked me through the reset process and reconnection to HE while still on the phone and immediately sent me out a new zwave plug-in module to try. They then followed up with me via email to make sure my issue was resolved.
So maybe I will have to call them about the account change.
I switched from Schlage which I preferred but were prone to hardware failure to Kwikset 914s about a year ago. My only complaint is the noise of the motors when operating. But, they work great. And yes, you can use all the normal Hubitat lock management software. In fact, I was able to seamlessly switch my user codes from the old lock to the new lock because the "Lock Code Manager" app "just worked."
I wish they were sexier, quieter, cooler. Instead, they are reliable. And for WAF that is critical.
I would be curious to know about their build quality. I own half a dozen DB1-C locks and unfortunately the motor is mounted on plastic molded posts that failed on my main house lock (gets operated at least a couple dozen times a day).
I ordered my original DB2-B from Alfred in August of 2021, so over four years old now. It was on our front door of the old house so just like you, operated at least a couple times a day.
All I can tell you is that I had no issues.
I purchased the -B version with the key bc that was our only keyed door. The back door was a patio door, so if the electronics failed, i wanted a mechanical means to get in.
I installed just a DB2 in August at the new place on the door between the garage & the house. It gets unlocked in the mornings and locked at night. But i assume none of your failures happened in the first four months.
I actually have four DB1-C-BL BNIB that i purchased from amazon July of 2024. I intended to put these on all the doors of the new place and i jumped on a sale they were having. But i couldn't use them bc of the multipoint latches. By the time I realized I was not going to be able to use them, i was outside of my amazon return window.
