Hi All,
I currently have an AppKettle which still managed to work as the Alexa skill seems to work locally. I was planning on implementing one of the API projects from git hub, but have recently found the Alexa skill no longer works and even the kettle won't even work as a dumb kettle.
Has anybody managed to keep their kettle working?
I thought I'd check before I get a new smart kettle.
With that said, does anybody have any experience with the WEEKETT or iKettle 3rd Generation?
I'm leaning towards the iKettle even though it is more expensive because it looks a better build quality, with no plastic in contact with the water. It's just their cloud solution that worries me after what happened with AppKettle.
The WEEKETT app seems to be Tuya based which is better as it is a massive platform but also easier to control locally.
The Alexa skill can no longer control the device. Its own buttons can nolonger control the device.
Its affectivly dead, unless i can somehow reset it and get it back on the network without the app. Which was offloaded by ios and not available to download.
i fully understand that ... i have many devices that alexa cant be controled by alexa
altho the work around is easy with a virtaul switch like this one
tell alexa to turn the virtaul switch on
and then use webcore or rule machine or what even you wish to use
when it sees the virtaul switch turned on turn the device on you wish to control
I bought the smarter kettle.
I use a virtual thermostat and echo speaks to send commands as speech to set the kettle.
I use a power monitoring outlet to let me know when it has finished.
It could just be a simple switch but different tea require different temps.
Alex, tea earl grey hot.
