Smart Home Humidifiers - which do you use?

I’m having an awful lot of trouble finding a good smart humidifier that works in Apple Home, or at the very least has a reliable connection through Hubitat. Anyone have any products they’d like to recommend? Extra important this time of year!

For a single room I use a Honeywell Warm Mist, think it was on sale for about $20.

Just add it to any smart plug of your choice, combined with a humidity sensor you like.

I’ve been pretty happy with the Levoit line of humidifiers. They work with the VeSync app / service which links into Alexa. I’m not sure about HomeKit though, it’s probably Alexa and Google only.

I’ve used this one for a year. Integrated via HA:

I did buy one of these Levoit 300s when Amazon was blowing them out for ~$40, thought it'd be nice to integrate it with these drivers.

But, there's something calming about the sound of hissing boiling water.

I find most small appliances use IoT wifi, often with the Tuya Apps. I bought a tower humidifier on Amazon that holds a couple gallons of water, and it connects through Tuya. I have a humidistat virtual device that controls it, and I used to just turn it on and off via Alexa, using routines, and the runRoutineId in the Alexa Speaks app to trigger them from Hubitat.

Now I use the Tuya Integration in HA and HADB, to bring it in as a fully functioning Hubitat device.

Edit: The YOKESON branded one I bought is no longer available, but it is something similar to this:

I got so sick of filling the small tank humidifiers that would empty at least once a day when it was cold out and the heat runs a lot. My current one will run constantly for about two days on a fill, and if the temps drop below 10 degrees F, it runs constantly.

Lol! I hope it covers more than the 7 square ft room the description claims it covers.

I completely gave up on smart humidifiers. It's a seriously disappointing category for smart homes. Instead I found the dumbest one I could find that uses a wick and plugged it into a smart switch. I am happy with it.

Indeed :joy:

Wonder where that 975 square inches came from! There's a better description further down the page. Our bedroom is about 450 sq ft and it seems to work ok.

I don't run ours continuously. It is scheduled to come on at 9PM and turn off at 5:30AM. I get about 6 days worth of running on 6L of water.

Yeah, I run from a humidistat, set to 55%. The humidity in my house only goes below 50% when it it in the teens or single digits outside. Otherwise it doesn't run at all. Since it is a tank type with a pump that circulates the water, I have it come on a few minutes every day to circulate the water, and it has a sanitize feature. Otherwise it may go weeks with water in it that just sits there.

50% RH at what temperature?

My schedule is 69 F during the day, with a drop to 67 F at night, for the main part of the house that has the humidifier in it (open concept kitchen, dining, living room).

There is a community driver that interfaces to some models of Levoit. I have the 400s and it worked well. Can’t give any other details bc I had it integrated at my old place and have got to that level of integration at the new place yet.

I looked into this last year but couldn’t find an evaporative model (not interested in ultrasonic or steam). I also need a large capacity tank as we run the unit full time in the winter. Or some way to automate replenishing the tank
