To those who have used Shelly in-wall relays... does the Shelly Plus 1 have the ability to intelligently invert its output depending on whether or not the state of the physical switch matches the state of the output?

Yes. Shelly devices have a few options. They can be setup to toggle with every action of the switch, or they can be setup to turn on if the switch is turned on and turn off when off. If the switch is already in that state, then it will remain in it.
