So of course my kids are really bad at turning off lights. I've tried various things. Right now I have that after 10 that the lights turn off after 5 mins. This causes issues. It's hit or miss when the kids go in and start manually turning on lights and the motion sensor doing anything.
So here is what I'd like to do...
If lights are turned on manually (at the switch) then they should turn off after 5 minutes of no movement on the motion sensor.
Now @rlithgow1, why not just use motion sensor to turn them on and then wait?
Because my kids complain it won't always turn on (everytime they complain, I check logs and the unit physically and it's fine). I'm looking at this as a failsafe.
Here is my existing night time rule for the main lights)
Assuming the motion sensor is showing as active, change your delay to a Wait for Event - Motion Inactive and stays for 5 minutes. The only way this would not work is if the motion sensor never goes active.
With the above said, you could add a timeout with the Wait so that rule will still progress even if the motion sensor doesn’t trigger. A timeout of 10 minutes would basically say the rule will progress after 10 minutes regardless of motion sensor going inactive.
