Trying to setup a Repeat function and I don't think the setup procedure is working properly. While creating a Rule, I went to Selection Actions to Run>Create New Action>Repeat Actions>Repeat Actions. Enable Repeat variable n times and you cannot enter a number. Enable Variable repeat interval and you cannot enter an interval. Looks like the only way to enter a repeat interval and repeat n times is to not enable either of them. Or, enter the interval and n times, THEN enable them. Suggestions?
When you enable "Repeat variable n times?" and "Variable repeat interval?" you are expected to enter a local or hub variable. If you want to enter a number instead then don't enable them.
Do you have any local or hub variables of a numeric type set up? If not, you won't have any options.
Like bert said, you need to create the variable first. Then you will be able to select it from the drop down list. I believe the variable needs to be defined as a number variable.
I just recently experimented with my first repeatable rule; and I fell into the exact same trap as you.
The toggle is only there for if you want to use a variable. If you are using a specific number of time and repeats, simply enter them into the fields, and do not enable the toggles.
Here is a screenshot of my barking dog. I have it set to repeat three times, every 18 seconds (the length of the sound clip).
Thanks for the assistance guys. joshlobe, I ended up with the same setup as you but was unsure if it was the correct way to do it.
My confusion was... I thought I was being asked a question in the beginning of the statement. I took "Variable repeat interval?" as "Do you want to use a variable repeat interval?, I thought yes so I enabled it, moved to the right and entered a time. Did the same for variable n times. What you are saying is, I should actually read it as "Do you want to use a previously defined custom variable" and if yes, then enable it. I usually try to follow the logic path as I read it and when I don't understand, I error on the side of me not getting it, as is the case here. Verbage and flow is slightly counterintuitive but I'm not a programmer nor do I claim to be. But I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before.
Thanks again guys, Great support community here.
