It looks like there is only one white channel. Does that mean the "Tunable White" is faked using RGB?

Not being an expert on the topic I'd guess with a 'I think so'. They are good at 2750 or so (nice and bright) other than that they use the red or blue to compensate, and it's a lot 'dimmer'. TBH I use them for either bright white in closets or color accents.
I do have one for TV bias at 5000ish, and yes I would rather use a dedicated strip at that color than have the 'red' LED's shinning. It hasn't effected me enough to replace them, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it.
