Sengled E1M-G7H Zigbee Motion Sensor working intermittently

Problem Statement: Motion Sensor pair’s with hub with default driver #1 above. Initially it detects motion(Open) and clears(Closed) normally. It will work for a minute or so, then over 10’s of minutes it will not work most of the time, and then intermittently work. When it works it works for a period of 1-2 minutes, but then doesn’t work for 10’s of minutes.

I’m using a Rule Machine rule to trigger on Changed and then using if then to send out a different Iphone message based on open or closed. I use a cloned version of the rule to notify me on every external door open/close in my house and it works flawlessly with Third Reality Zigbee sensors.

I had purchased these in July 2024, but didn’t implement or hook up until mid December-2024. I put support ticket with Sengled. After verifying purchase they replaced my 4 pack without any troubleshooting on there end. New 4 units have the same problem.

I hooked one up in a heavy traffic area in the same room and ~10 feet from my HE hub. It had the same response. Works intermittently. It appears it is going to sleep for ~10’s of minutes and then wakes up.

If you power cycle the sensor then it will immediately(after short boot period) work for a few minutes. But then fall in the same cycle of only working intermittently.

got 08 during July amazon sale and 04 back in may. they have been quiet reliable only had to repair once 02 of them. Not sure if it will work for you but this is what i have done:

  • Paired first and seen as contact sensor
  • Changed the driver to ''Device'' and cleared all states and saved
  • Changed the driver to Generic Zigbee Motion Sensor (no temp) and saved
  • without deleting put the sensor in pairing mode again and did add zigbee device
  • Device is seen as existing with correct driver.
    And my sensitivity selector is on 2.
    That worked for me and quiet reliably, detection cooldown time is just few second so will be able to test it quickly.
