I have read on here that these bulbs can save the state after a power failure. I can’t find a driver with that ability that works with these bulbs. Anyone know of one?
Right now these bulbs have a good price on Amazon at 3:50 apiece if you buy eight.
You say you use the Advanced Zigbee driver and it works fine. I tried that driver and the problem is that the bulb does not respect the power off and on state. I don’t know if this bulb will respect the state with any driver, but it definitely does not with this driver.
Using this driver, I set the power on state to be off. I then unplugged my lamp that contains this bulb wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. The light turns on. I was expecting the light to remain off once the power returned.
I must confess I haven't rigorously tried that feature.
When I reboot, which is often as a beta tester, I have a system start routine that turns off all my lights so I start with dark after a power outage or reboot.
If I have an errant offline bulb after an issue I have always noted that it will come back after I cycle it's power. It comes On when I restore the power and then turns off a few seconds later. I always "assumed" that was the driver setting it Off after a power restore.
OK, I’ve given up on this. It does not look like these classic bulbs have a power restore state. I’m sending these bulbs back to Amazon as I don’t want to use any bulb that will come on in the middle of the night due to a power failure.
Yes, I ran into that in the early days of Sengled even before the more modern drivers were developed.
After a power restoral a piston runs to turn off all the lights.
I only have to pretend the lights are on for 20-30 seconds if this happens at night.
Edit - now I’m not so sure that this one works perfect. It definitely has all the features that I wanted and it has the retained state option that does work but this morning I’m seeing some flaky stuff on my dashboard.
The Tuya driver may work with other Chinese brands located in Hangzhou or Shenzhen, but not with Sengled, which HQ is located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang (near Shanghai).
If this is the Sengled A19 bulb, it does not support power-on-state configuration.
