What is the advantage of using Safety Monitor over Rule Machine for an Alarm System?

I guess you could do that, but all the hard work is done for you in HSM. It doesn’t do everything, but when you combine RM and HSM, you can add additional capability that suits you particular requirements.
I think it’s a good approach, so only the best features make it into the main app. I personally really dislike feature bloat.
