Rule machine writing delays

Is it normal to find a 2 to 4 second delay between each click actions when you are trying to write in rule machine?
For a simple program of about 20 lines the other day it took me a solid 30 minutes to write a rule, simply down for each click I have to wait for the web page to refresh and show me the next option.

Is there a way to write this off line and upload to HE?

Nope. Unless you write an app in groovy instead (which would also execute faster than RM). There are several posts on this subject regarding a written code layer rather than RM. It's unlikely in the short term. If you have significant delays like this it indicated the hub is running slower than it should. Suggests a reboot and assess what unsupported apps/drivers you are running.

Are you connected to a Netgear router? If so, there is a known issue that can be fixed by applying a patch. Reach out to Hubitat support.

That is not normal. Not normal at all.

Better learn some groovy then :smirk:

I see this once and awhile too. It seems the more I use rule machine (creating/editing rules) the slower it gets. A simple reboot for me takes care of this and its back to snappy again. If I'm not doing anything in rule machine then all is well.

Thanks @AutoM8, I did that tonight and it was okay. I'm probably exaggerating a bit with the 30 minutes, but there is a noticeable 1 to 4 second lag between each time I hit 'conditional actions' then 'If' etc. Its faster on my phone than my laptop, so I can attribute some of the lag with my crappy laptop but it just feels clunky.

I just wrote a new rule that required several tests and re-writes. I didn't see anything like what you have described. Have you mentioned this to @bobbyD (support@hubitat.com) ?
