The first one is, is there a list of example of different rules, type of problem/solution examples.. This would give me a real good head start. I searched and found where some people put examples also someone posted a list of RM4 examples which is nice but not RM5.. Is there a central place to find examples .
I see in the Rule machine documentation (Using 5.1) that you can actually do real programming somewhere. For example I see things like:
Can you actually modify your rules at the CLI level ?
I get the feeling I'm missing something, at the moment I'm creating conditional statements using the GUI which is painful for me as a Unix scripter.
Thanks very much in advance, and please feel free to send me links to documentation.
Coding is black magic to me so I guess Rule Machine is more geared toward those without coding experience as we're walked through the steps too create a rule using that GUI.
Have you taken a look at WebCore? It won't be exactly what you're looking for but it would probably suit you more as a means to write, store and modify your rules (pistons)
It sounds like what you want to do is develop groovy apps. These can then be imported on the hub and if applicable, shared with other users.
As for Rule Machine (RM) rules, there are some differences between 4.X and 5.1, but generally, the logic is the same. If you want to use RM, feel free to share your specific use case(s) and a screenshot showing what you have up to that point and members of the community will be happy to help you work it out.
Yes. Select 'Send Speak a Message' Fill in the 'Message to Send' box, then select your phone from the "Use these notification devices' I take it you have the Hubitat app on your phone - if you have, it should have created a device for your phone and be available for selection when you click that box
