Room Lighting - Disable Activation Issue

Happy New Year all, struggling with a Room Lighting setup and having a switch be able to disable the activation from running. When mode switches to Day, the blinds open and that all works fine. But trying to limit it to not run when a switch is activated does not seem to work. The instance in Room Lighting shows disabled but it still runs and the blinds open.

Any help would be appreciated.

It triggers based upon presence of the Sleep Number Bed. It is also working and turning on and off based upon the Sleep Number.

Do you have any logs? That would be very helpful in trying to diagnose what is actually going on.

Thanks, not much experience with logs, but I will test and run the Automation and pull them up to share.

Based on Room Lighting saying Active and Disabled, my guess is your logs will show the Mode change first before recognizing the disable switch. That is how you would get both showing at the top.

What triggers the switch and how is it turned on before the Mode change?

Switch is triggered at night when presence is sensed in the bed. The mode is triggered to Day at 8 am.

One thing you could check is the switch’s device page and go into the events tab. You want to look for the on and off commands to see when it is being triggered to change state. On that page, when was the last off and on commands. How do those times compare to when Mode is supposed to become Day?

Well one question then is what triggers the active to show in the instance? I turned it off manually under the page. It was not showing active, Tested turning to Day, it switched to active. Then changed Mode to Evening and it stays active. It should not be active since I do not have Evening set as a mode to control the Room Lighting instance. No matter what Mode I change it to, it remains active....

Thinking the issue is i do not have an off trigger. Which has me thinking Room Lighting might not be the solution. I just want the blinds to open either at Day Mode change or Sleep In Switch turning off. I think from past experience Room Lighting will keep the blinds at the set state while activated. So if someone wants them adjusted, they will get reset back to the Room Lighting states...

I think I figured it out and seems to be working....needed a trigger to turn off so then Sleep In Switch will disable. It was always active and then couldn't disable.

Thanks @JB10

I’m glad you figured it out.

Room Lighting will only set the Blinds at Activation to the level indicated in the table. If you manually adjust them, that’s fine. The next day, Room Lighting will set them back to the original level. You would still have manual control after the initial activation.
