Ring sensor V2 batteries accuracy

All of these sensors were installed at the same time. I suspect that the low ones are from the arctic front (negative single digits) and the fact they installed on windows. They just started reporting this low this morning (which coincides with the temperature drop).

Are there any concerns about accuracy of reporting with these that may be an alternative explanation?

They had been seeming very good until now.

Do not believe battery reporting. All devices lie...

My Ring repeater occasionally glitches. It will report a low battery, like 32%, then report 100% a half second later. It's even reported 101%. Not temperature, it's plugged in on an interior wall.

@mikes Is it paired with or without S2? I've seen stuff like that when paired without security but if you use the QR code to pair it stops behaving like that.

All paired with S2.

Sorry I was referring to @mike's repeater behavior. As to battery levels in your stuff, like I said, they tend to lie.... Even my Ring exterior contact sensor lies... I simply set my HSM battery monitoring threshold to 20% and if anything hits that I just replace it.

What particular method do you use for monitoring? Just RM?

It was paired without. Just re-paired with, we'll see how it goes.

Battery reporting is a tricky ting. Especially when you involve Lithium-ion batteries which have very little voltage drop from 100% until they are dead. I also believe code temps can lower the voltage output.

Considering the cold weather and the way Lithium-ion battery's don't change their voltage much until they are almost dead it could be just a sign of lower output as the battery temp has dropped. It will likely go back up once the batteries worm up. but it could also be a sign that they are closer to dead then previously thought. I wouldn't depend on the battery percentage to tell you when the device need a new battery. Also use a smartapp that monitors the device's regular battery heartbeat so that you know when it stops responding.

I currently have a rule set up. I was using device watch dog but that only checks at a certain time each day.

I do think it's temperature related. No door sensors are reporting low suddenly, only windows and the windows that are below grade (tri level home) are reporting the lowest.

HSM... It just alerts me whenever a battery device hit's 20% and I change the battery.

How am I just now seeing that!

I use "Device Activity Check" which you can group your devices and set different intervals. I believe mine checks all my Ring Contact sensors every 2 hours.

The sensors that are at the lowest point would be the coldest. The door may be better insulated then the windows.

Then of course you could be right too. If hey are on high traffic locations like certain doors that can make them go faster then others as well.
