Ring Keypad Gen 2 slow to respond

I have the Ring Keypad Gen 2 and am using the Ring Alarm Keypad G2 Community Driver with it. The unit arms fine. But when I disarm it, I enter my code and the disarm button. Nothing happens but the red network light flashes. I enter the code a few times and it finally seems to respond. Any suggestions on how to make it work better?

Thanks

Sounds like it didn't include correctly. I had one do the same thing. You'll need to remove it from your zwave network and re-add it.

It seems to work otherwise. Strange that I would have to re-add it to the network.

z-wave can be persnickety. Sometimes removing and readding (especially closer to the hub) corrects issues.

How far is it from your hub. Mine has done that under two different conditions.

  1. Across the house and was truely at the end of the range.
  2. On occasion i believe when zwave network is congested, or a zwave device is having problems.

Do you have a decent build out of always on Zwave devices to act as repeaters?

The keypad is about 30 feet from the hub and on the same level of the house as the hub. I do have a number of other z-wave devices in the area that I believe are acting as repeaters. These include an Aeotec outlet and a GE/Jasco switch.

Well you can look at your z-wave status page and see the speed and route your keypad is taking.

Can we assume you are using C-7 hub with this? The Gen 2 requires S2 and doesn't function well without it.

Good point I forgot about that myself....

I do have a C-7 hub. I believe I have it set to use S2 when I set it up. Attached is a screenshot of the device details. The S2 value is set at 4. Hopefully this means it is configured properly.

You can see in your z-wave details page what it's set to to confirm

S2: 4 =>> S2 access control

So paired correctly
