RING Extender Gen 2 - NOT in List of Devices

Hi.
I've easily paired the Z-Wave Extender to the C-8 hub, and it shows up in Devices (Left column of web interface), and in the Room to which it was assigned.

However, when trying to program a Rule/automation, it is not in any of the drop down List of Devices!!?! where is it???

Power Failure Detection and Restoration: I simply want to use it to send a Notification of a Power Failure (changes from MAINS to BATTERY power), and again when back to Mains power... and 2 Minutes after return to Mains power, turn OFF 2 Devices (Lights), and turn on 3 zigbee outlets.

Your input, or directing to the exact topic possibly written, will be most appreciated. Thanks!

What driver are you using for the device? This is the "Type" field on the device detail page. For a repeater alone, it doesn't matter, but to use device-specific functionality like power source events, it will. Not a lot of apps can use this attribute, but Rule Machine or a custom app for sure could.

@Chrislef
You would want to write it similar to this in rule machine using a custom attribute

Hi. I had installed cococafe Ring Alarm Range Extender Gen 2 DRIVER... But still, no Drop down selectable device when in the RULES creator...

Is this only doable in Rule Machine? Not in Notifications or Simple rules...

This is not the name of any builtin app. Rule Machine should work; as mentioned above, many others will not due to the somewhat niche nature of this attribute.

I am not familiar with that driver. That said, I seem to remember at least two other drivers for this device floating around the community. One might work better than the one you are using now.

Driver "Ring Alarm Range Extender gen2"

Get it from Hubitat package manager.

OK, thanks for the input and guidance... From what I've read in this thread, I need to use Rule Machine, Not try to do so in "Basic rules", or "Simple Automation Rules".

Hi... I'm pleased to say I've got the Notifications I wanted working now.
Thanks bbrannon for the Screen-captures above - they helped a lot!!!
Now, my next questions, for clarity: why do we als need the Virtual Switch - is it the only Reliable to go create other Rules and Automations, based on the 2 conditions of ON or OFF we defined in the original rule, above?

Can the Wait Command simply be left as so, and it just Waits for the condition to change, or, are there other factors that will reset it, and may create a false notification (Example, Wait gets reset somehow even though the Power Failure persists, and a False, "the Power is restored Notification, and related Rules get triggered).

Where is says "virtual switch" above, that can be whatever action you want -- and it doesn't have to be an on/off-type sequence.

For my power-out rule, my Action is simply to send a Pushover notification for the monitoring device that's out (I have 5 total).

I don't use a Wait in that particular rule of mine, but I do use the Power Outage Manager app to handle "power restored" stuff.

There's a good explanation of Wait/Delay options in the Documentation (starting here)

Bottomline, you can have that rule do whatever you please.
