I just got an RGBGenie color remote ZB-5008/5028. It was recognized by Hubitat right away... but I'm a bit confused how to set it up....
I installed the Mirror app and I see the 4 child devices I can slave lights to them but then how do I set up the scene buttons?
Are they per Zone?
The power buttons seems to power on/off all 4 zones, is there a way to not turn them all on/off at once?
Also then what do the default play/pause/timer and W+ buttons control?
Are these other buttons mappable?
Iβm also having an issue with the color wheel, the colors are either washed out or donβt match each other within a zone... they are all Philips hue lights and have no problem matching colors in other groupings... I keep playing with how they are connected to the child devices, ie added as hue groups or individual lights or both or brought in by advanced hue integration app or a group I created with Hubitat. Also hitting the W on the wheel sometimes gets it to correct saturation. Also if I just change the color with Alexa the saturation sometimes stays when switching to the color wheel.
Hopefully I can answer your questions. One of the first things that helped me out when starting out was having a separate logs window open so I can see what Hubitat and devices are doing.
Regarding the remote, the master on/off button is hard coded in the firmware as a short press button to turn on/off all zones. If you watch the logs, you will see it sends an alternating on/off command when pressed. There are no setting for this button, but many have asked for the feature.
There are a few methods to setting scenes. One way is if you go into the Parent Device, you will see an option to Enable Scene Set and Capture. By enabling this, whatever devices you have assigned the remote can be captured by a long press , (i.e. whatever their settings are at the time when long pressed) and recalled by a short press.
The Zone buttons are used when operating dimming, color including CCT, and the play button.
Regarding saturation, the Play button will set the saturation level. So if one zone is set to a different saturation level, that will effect how the color looks. If you are selecting red on the color wheel, but the saturation is different between two zones, the reds will not be lined up. The easiest way to tell where the saturation is set is to look at the logs when pressing the play button for each zone. A quick press moves saturation about 10%. Repeated presses will move the saturation level up and down the scale. You can visually do it as well
Hope this helps, if not feel free to reach out. And welcome again.
Thank U so Much! This all makes much more sense now! The only things that doesn't seem to match up is the play button seems to toggle through Colors for me.... The W button that is in the middle of the wheel seems to toggle between white temp/saturation levels?....The W+ button seems to change the saturation also and more reliably when trying to match colors...
