In the above screen, if you click on "Done with this Condition" and then "Done with Required Expression, your Required Expression is properly created.
However, if you go directly to click "Done with Required Expression" you end up w/a broken and confusing state of the Required Expression. You return to the Rule's home screen w/out any error messages, but the Required Expression is missing from the rule's home screen.
If you re-enter the Required Expression flow the expression's condition is missing from the area where it should appear below "The expression defined here must be true..." and the broken bits of the expression persist.
If you select the option to edit it you will get notice of a broken token:
If both buttons are going to be shown, and using just the second breaks things, it should either be required to click "Done w/this Condition" before clicking "Done w/Required Expression" (disable or hide second button until first is clicked), or clicking directly on "Done w/Required Expression" should save the condition(s) and create the Required Expression normally. Thanks for any comments/feedback.
Adding to the confusion, if you edit a Required Expression, you can get a similar pair of buttons, but in this case you can click either "Done with Expression" or "Done w/Required Expression" first, and get the same result, your changes are saved and the Required Expression works as expected.
100% repeatable issue. I was even able to obtain more "R.E. in limbo" situations by first editing a broken or valid R.E. and then clicking Erase Expression followed by Done with Expression before clicking Done with Required Expression. This breaks things. Re-opening RE, clicking DELETE EXPRESSION and then updating rule wipes the slate clean.
Agreed that better delineation needed here for proper button sequence to save without borking. And possibly introducing a warning in UI to signify rules with broken Required Expressions.
Will spare you the screenshots b/c OP captured it all fully. But I'm on the beta channel and thus unsure if this is something new to my C-7. Either way, it's happening in RM Version 5.1.8 (9/8/2025), so must be pre-beta.
Stepped on that one too. But learned to do it correctly. In other places like fields with the little arrows at the end, omitting those just means one has to hit the done twice.
Yup, if you hit the "Dones" in the right order you are OK. It's just not a good experience when you expose a Done that is the wrong Done and blows things up w/no messaging and in a very confusing way. @gopher.ny - appreciate any comments on this when you have a moment from other more urgent tasks.
