Replace Not Working

I replaced an old z-wave Dimmer Switch with a newer z-wave plus Dimmer Switch. I have done this before and I typically do the following:

• physically swap out the switch
• hit refresh on old switch on the z-wave detail page till I get a replace button
• hit replace button and pair it with the new physical switch

When I hit refresh, I can't get the replace button to show.

I have tried shutting down my hub, pulling power for 5 minutes.
I have tried excluding the dimmer.

Any advice.

While that should work, Z-Wave replace can be a bit finicky in my experience. I would suggest pairing the new device like normal, using Swap Apps Device to switch them around, then doing a "Remove" from Z-Wave Details on your old device (or a proper exclusion if you can, but it sounds like it's too late for that).

This will work as long as they are both just regular devices (no child devices), which it sounds like they are.

All good now.
I shutdown again, pulled power, waited another 5 minutes. Had to hit refresh 2-3 times before the replace button showed.

I have done this method 10+ times and never had an issue till today. I have been slowly replacing all my~10 year old z-wave switches.

I too am a big user of Replace, in fact, I did it yesterday. Took two swings this time, but it was less than 5 mins total time.
