[Release] Sonos Advanced Controller

I've done a complete uninstall/reinstall before, and that helped me. It restored some devices that mysteriously lost all of their Device Data settings, and it restored the group functionality.

For anyone experiencing speaker devices that lose their Device Data and thus prevent control, you can use the wonderful Custom Device Note to restore those values (then initialize) without having to delete the device. This seems to occur every few months for me.

Still this app. Before I was using GitHub - jishi/node-sonos-http-api: An HTTP API bridge for Sonos easing automation. Hostable on any node.js capable device, like a raspberry pi or similar. but have had a lot of issues with it. This app solves those problems for me.

I tried all you suggested. I tried a matchup. I removed bundles and tried again.
Nothing makes it possible to install.
Besides, the bundle on the author's repo does not install as well.
I even tried to install app and drivers one by one , but it also failed. (missing function in the code)

My guess;

  1. Author abandoned this project and the code is not complete (maybe it is not compatible with current Hubitat version and it works for you because you had it installed on an earlier Hubitat release)
  2. Author abandoned the project and on purpose removed some files/functions to make it unusable.

I don't think that is specific to me. Anybody with up-to-date Hubitat firmware will not be able to install it. If you don't believe me, remove it and try installing again.

what did you uninstall. As I don't have it installed, it is not possible to uninstall.

Ah, sorry, I missed that the app wasn't installed yet.

Personally I find that hard to believe, but hey, who knows. :man_shrugging:

Never tried it that way.......I used HPM.

It is compatible with the current version as it is working.

Why would I. It's working for me.

I really do not know what is going on.

I suppose we need someone who does not have this installed to try and install it through HPM and see if they can install it.

Any takers out there who does not have it installed willing to give it a try???

Sure, let me just do a quick backup first.

Edit: Hmm, I'm still on 2.4.1.177.

Seems fine.
HPM installed packages.
HE installed User app.
App discovered speakers.

What's the Sonos Dashboard Control for again?
Edit: An old app it seems I'm not using.

Thanks for having a go.
The app we're talking about is Sonos Advanced Controller by DWinks.
Is this the one you installed?

Correct, installed and functional.

Cobra's Sonos Dashboard Control is from way back when I only had one Sonos speaker and then sorta forgot about it.

Great. Thanks for confirming it loads OK through HPM.
Can you confirm you are on the latest build just to cover off it's not a build issue? 2.4.3.158.
Thanks again.

Sorry, still waiting... :grimacing:

2.4.1.177 might be recent enough for a roll back if someone's having issues installing the app,

should I remove the official sonos integration to use this app ?

I removed all I have releated to sonos. Then I installed this app again. And it seems it is now installed. Then I reconfigured official sonos integration.
it seems to work.

edit: no , now it can not add players. It can find my sonos devices but can't create virtual players.

These are the drivers that installed through HPM.
I only use Sonos Advanced Group and Sonos Advanced Player though.

Did these install OK?

As a matter of interest I just tried to install SAC on my C8, don't ask me why I didn't try this before, and it installed all releavent drivers OK.
I'm at the latest build.

I found that Sonos Advanced Controller does not work with the official Sonos integration installed. It was unstable at best, until I completely uninstalled the official integration. And just to be safe, I uninstalled and reinstalled the Sonos Advanced Controller.

I don’t think so.

I’m able to install with HPM:

And also manually by installing the app, all the drivers, and the bundle zip from GitHub (turns out the bundle alone will only import required libraries, not the app or drivers).

Your assumptions that this project has been abandoned don’t seem to be valid.

well, after completely removing official sonos integration, it works for me now.
interesting, because author had not mentioned this.

Btw, I still believe this project is abandoned, because it has been a week and the author hasn't jumped in. And I'm going back on the thread and I see that he's not been here for a while.

That’s odd.

I’m not sure how having the built-in Sonos integration on your hub could explain the problems you ran into trying to install this code onto your hub.

Both are running on my hub without any issues that I’ve noticed.

And yes it’s clear the dev doesn’t check in here very often anymore.

But the integration still works as advertised and he has been active on the forum as recently as a month ago.

So again, while your expectations re: user support by a community dev may not have been met (this is free code shared by a stranger on the internet, after all), your conclusion that the code is abandoned still strikes me as premature.
