Driver for Peplink/Pepwave Max to send SMS messages
The Peplink MAX routers are ruggedized, industrial-grade cellular routers designed for high-performance mobile connectivity, remote locations, and mission-critical applications (e.g., vehicles, IoT). Key features include 4G/LTE connectivity, multiple SIM slots (redundant)
Even though the router has many functions, I'm only using SMS sending. Once I clean up the code, I might release other features.
A sim card with sms plan is needed.
My need was to send a notification even when there's no internet. I have internet backup, but my Synology router takes a few minutes to switch the internet connection during an outage, or perhaps both can fail.
Looking for a solution, I found that my old Pepwave Max has an API that Hubitat handles easily. The device is very reliable and currently very very cheap on eBay.
PepWave can be used as a mobile internet backup and can handle line outages if your data service also includes SMS messaging. In my case, my mobile data plan service requires an authorized router, so I use it separately.
You need to config the Web Admin Access to WAN/LAN to access for Wan port or WIFI Wan
