Recommendation for SIMPLE thermostat?

I'm looking for a bare-bones controllable thermostat for my garage/shop. I only use the A/C in there when I'm actively working, which is never to any schedule.

I don't need 7-day programmable, learning, or anything else fancy.
I just want to be able to remotely turn it on or off, set temp, see its status in the dashboard, and most important, set a rule to turn it off after a set time in case I forgot.

What kind of air conditioning unit is it? A large window unit that's plugged in, or a mini-split, or something closer to central air?

And how do you control it right now? What kind of thermostat do you use?

It's a small central air unit. Currently using an old 7-day programmable thermostat that I had lying around.

The go control Z-Wave thermostat is simple and folks here like it.

On the Zigbee side I think the Zen is nice.

Both are available on eBay I believe... Xfinity sold the Zen to it's customers for a while so you can usually find the Xfinity packaged version, it's just reboxed, same as the "regular" Zen.

It's just too bad you can only mount it vertically like that...

Lol, you said barbones which means cheap. You want cheap or horizontal. All seriousness I have it and it works great, though it doesn't have to do much since Hubitat is the brains of the operation. Can't remember the last time I even looked at it.

The older CentraLite HA 3156105 (xfinity branded) are battery operated and can be had for as little as $20 on ebay. Not fancy, but I've been very happy with one in my shop so i recently bought another for the garage.

The GoControl that @danabw mentioned works great. I have three of them and have never had an issue in three years. I hooked them up to 24V AC rather than battery (they accept both) which allows them to serve as z-wave repeaters and, in my view, likely improves reliability.

@user1139 Either the CT101 or GoControl. There is also the Honeywell T6 Pro z-wave
