Reboot Loop

My C-8 Pro hub has been in a reboot loop since I updated the firmware on 20 October. The hub got stuck rebooting after the update and hasn’t run normally since. It’s currently stable in safe mode.

Hub details:

  • Model: C-8 Pro
  • Platform version: 2.4.3.173 - I was updating to version 2.5

What happens

- Outside safe mode, the hub boots completely: the Diagnostic Tool comes up and the main UI loads past “Initializing Hub: 100% – preparing UI”. About 15 seconds later the whole hub drops off the network, including the Diagnostic Tool on port 8081, and starts again. It repeats this roughly every minute, and the LED cycles between blue and green.

  • Before the loop started, the main UI returned a 404 error.
  • In safe mode the hub stays up and responds normally.

What I’ve tried

- Rebooting from the Diagnostic Tool

  • Power cycling the hub
  • Enabling safe mode, which works and is stable
  • Restoring local backup from 19 Oct

Could you help me recover the hub?

You should remove your UID, that shouldn't be public.

Tagging a staff member that could help.

@gopher.ny

I got the hub id, please remove it from the post. Is the hub in the safe mode now? It's not responding to the cloud requests.

Hi. ID removed. Yes its in safe mode now

Let's try this. While stable in safe mode, open the http://hubs.ip.address.here/hub/advanced/setNetworkCheckEnabled/false endpoint in the browser, then reboot normally. If the drops stop, we got our suspect.

Broswer now say "Network check is disabled, reboot to apply" (I haven't rebooted yet) . Is this expected?

Yes, hopefully it will prevent the reboot loop.

Corrupt database found Hub cannot continue. To fix a corrupt database, the hub needs a soft reset (read documentation, open diagnostics tool) followed by a database restore (read documentation, open restore page).

Doing soft reset now

May need to do the http://hubs.ip.address.here/hub/advanced/setNetworkCheckEnabled/false endpoint again after the restore, the setting is saved in the database.
