Re-Arm HSM Water & Smoke

Is there any way to write a rule or other to trigger or activate this button in HSM, other than to fumble around on the app to get to this button and manually activate? If not, WHY NOT? Hubitat is about automation, and you cannot automate any device to trigger this button currently. I’ve been told this is not possible by those in the know. I would surely like to know why.

I’ve done it programatically in an app or two, but it could also be done by a custom driver, i.e. a virtual button that could then be pushed by a rule.

Yea, I just can’t understand why this can be a part of a drop down in a rule. Seems so pointless not to have this option.

It is, although you may need at least two actions, depending on your end goal. Did you try the solution posted in your other topic? I'm not sure why you created a duplicate topic:

If you are still having problems, I suggest sharing your entire rule plus logs.

Okay so this works to “re-arm” smoke and water like I wanted. I’m just confused as to why we are using a “disarm” function to “Arm”. Seems a bit confusing.

Maybe. :slight_smile: But that's the difference between the outcome behind "Disarm" and "Disarm All," per the explanation in the other topic.

I suppose I might be the first and only person to ever encounter this. My question though is why wouldn’t we make this much more logical and easier to just add a selection in the RM dropdown that specifically tasks the system to re-arm smoke and water, by using a statement that is much more understandable such a “re-arm xxx? I would bet if you put this task to 100 people all 100 would fail to create this event without help from someone in hubitat that knows the logic. All 100 of those would see “disarm” and would no way associate that with “arming”, or “re-arm”.

Not disagreeing, but the app author is already aware from your other topic, and that's his call. I was just trying to point out that despite the claims made here and elsewhere afterwards, the way to do what you're asking was already provided. :slight_smile:
