Question about Hampton Bay fan and light [Solved]

I am thinking about getting a couple of Hampton Bay fans that have the remote kit in them like this:

My question though before I get too deep into it is when I add the device when I first install it, will it setup as two separate devices, i.e., fan and light, or will it create just one device?

If it creates just one device, how do I go about differentiating between the fan and light in RM? I mean, can you turn on the light and/or fan or both?

Since I don't have one to play with yet, I was just curious how this works.

TIA.

Scott

Using the built-in driver for this device, you will initially get once device. Within the user preferences, there is a switch to enable the creation of two child devices, one for the fan and another for the light. It works very well.

Great. Exactly what I was looking for. Guess I need to get a couple of them then

Just be sure to have a Zigbee repeater device in each room with these fan controllers. The zigbee radio in these is fairly weak, so you'll need a repeater nearby.

Yeah, I got a couple of them. Just have to figure out a way to make them blend in for the WAF factor LOL.

I am going to put a fan in our dining room which opens to the kitchen and will put a fan there as well. There are no walls between the two areas. You think one zigbee repeater will be enough or will I need two? It is a fairly small area. Maybe 12' x 25' feet or so.

If you can position it between the 2 fans, one may be enough.

I will try it out with one and if I have issues, I'll add another. Thanks for the help!
