I have a water feature in the back yard which is controlled by a switch next to the patio door. Currently it runs 24/7 but I want to control it so it only runs between specified hours. I believe it is a 1/2 HP pump. I'm looking for a recommendation for a smart switch that will handle the load. All the ones I've looked at are for lights and some specifically exclude fans which I'm assuming means they would also not work with a pump. Any recommendations?
If Z-wave is acceptable, you can try the GE/Jasco switch.

Pertinent section for 1/2 HP motor load
A Zooz Zen15 can handle this.
If that pump draws less than 3A, then a Zooz Zen71 will also work. Tagging @agnes.zooz
According to this: Horsepower to Amps Calculator - Inch Calculator
1/2HP single phase at 120V will be just over 3 Amps draw.
We wouldn't recommend using any of our wall switches on a 1/2 HP load. The only devices rated for that type of load we have are the ZEN15 Power Switch or the ZEN16 MultiRelay.

Thanks for the info. I had been looking at your switches.
Is that inrush current?
I think the ZEN17 is stronger, no?
The ZEN17 has 2 x 20 A relays while the ZEN16 has 2 x 15 A and 1 x 20 A relay so in this case, the ZEN16 would work just fine on the R3 output which is also rated for 20 A.
Im running a Zen17 to control my 3/4hp 240v submersible well pump. Using the 2 relays for L1 and L2 lines for the pump. Pulls up to 6amps. My pump is a Grundfos SQ with soft start. Using the input side on the Zen17 for the tank float switch and a RM rule to schedule and trigger on/off.
I'm looking for a paddle wall switch but thanks.
I now have an Aeotec switch on my conventional 240v submersible pump. It says it draws 2200 watts when running. Would that translate to 2 hp? I have no idea what it is. I know I had to upgrade my portable 5kw generator when we first got the house to 7.5kw 'cause the 5kw choked on the inrush current.
Did you see my earlier post? The GE Switch is rated for 1/2HP motor load. I know when I used GE Z-Wave switches (not dimmers) years ago, they all used a true mechanical relay internally. You could here them click on and off.
I have three of those switches. Two dimmers and one simple on/off switch. I'll take a look. Thanks for reminding me.
