Problem with Lutron Caseta switch with remote

I installed the Lutron bridge and a few switches. Mostly they work great, but for my hall/stairwell switch, I installed the smart switch with remote. I can turn it on using the app with no problem, but the issue is when actually trying to use the physical switch. It seems I have to press and hold or press several times to get it to respond. Honestly, I do not know the combination of pressing the up/down or center button or holding it down that actually gets it to work. It is almost like it is in some sort of sleep mode and I struggle for at least 15 seconds every time to get it working. This happens whether I am using the remote or the wired switch. As you can imagine, struggling to turn on a light switch for that long outweighs the convenience of being able to turn it on and off with the app and I am about ready to remove it.

Is there something I am missing here? Did I install it incorrectly? Is there some idiot mode that I have on? Thanks in advance.

A lutron switch controlled by a lutron pico is super fast, like 50ms fast.
Are you saying that using the lutron switch directly is taking 15 seconds to turn the load on and off?

Both the switch itself, and the Pico, should be near instantaneous. So if it is taking 15 secs, something is awry.

If it's happening at the actual switch (not the Pico remote) there is some hardware issue. Light compatibility would be high on the list of possibilities. Are these light bulbs different from others that work? Can you try bulbs that work with your other switches/dimmers? Is the device a switch or a dimmer? If it's a dimmer does the device dim acceptably once the bulbs are lit? If so, you might want to test changing the low end trim.

Sorry, I explained it poorly I guess. Its not that it takes 15 seconds to respond, it is that it doesnt respond. I have to keep pressing the different buttons then eventually (usually) it comes on. It is so inconsistent thought that I don’t know what combination of button pressing actually triggers the light.

Could you clarify if you are pushing buttons on the Pico remote or the actual Caseta dimmer itself?

In either event, response should be immediate - within milliseconds.

Is this a dimmer?, or a switch...
The dimmers have 4 or 5 buttons and the switches have 2.
If it's a dimmer what type of bulb is connected to it?

I think we need to know exactly what you are discussing. What switch or dimmer, what remote, and what kind of bulb.

Most Lutron Caseta Switches look like this:

Most Lutron Caseta Dimmers look like this:

A typical Pico remote for a switch looks just like the switch:

A typical Pico remote for a dimmer has an additional button in the middle:

The light, the Lutron Switch or Dimmer and the Pico Remote should all work without anything to do with Hubitat.

Its a dimmer with the pics remote. Switch is at the bottom of the stairs, remote at the top.

I tried earlier today and of course, it worked right away.

But I tried just now and this is what happened. I pressed the top button (on the remote). The green LED blinked but the light did not come on. I pressed it again, green LED blinked but light did not come on. I held it down, then pressed the middle button. Each time the LED indicated that it was working but the light did not come on. Finally after pressing the top and middle buttons several times, it came on. Afterwards, it responds instantly to any on, off, or dimming.
So it almost seems as if the switch is asleep. The bulb is LED - I am not positive if it is disable or not as I cant easily get to it. I usually only buy dimable LEDs, but this one has been in there for a while (as it is hard to access). If there is reason to suspect the bulb is the problem, then I might be able to change it. But I am more likely to take it out and replace it with just a switch. it is a hall light and only about a 40w equivalent. When we put it on, we always put it on full, as it isnt very bright. So I might just replace it with a switch and put the dimmer on another circuit.
