Problem with iPhone app

Been having problems with iPhone app for months now I tried to attach a video of the problem but it won’t let me . Get a spinning circle instead of the dashboard and you have to tap the home button to get it to stop I did send Bobby D a facebook message months ago and never got a response I also posted on the facebook group page and I’m not the only one with this problem

Seen a couple of post about this, and I noted on those, and now on yours, that I see this as well.

It’s getting really annoying now I’ve tried everything to get it to stop doing it and it’s been going on for months now

It is really odd that this is consistently happening to just some iPhone users... I guess I'm lucky - I haven't run across it yet (or I just haven't ever really noticed - that's possible!)

Hopefully staff can track it down soon.

Curious if those who are having problems are using the Safari or Chrome browser. I am using Chrome since inception of my use of HE [5 years now] and have not see any issues...at least yet...

Any change one of those having the issue could try Chrome if not already doing so now?

Also does Safari have the equivalent of clearing cookies / cache? Please forgive my ignorance on Safari but if that is something you can try you may want to give that a shot.

I don’t use Safari or Chrome to access it I use the app it’s a little easier for me

I do also but I thought it opened a browser since it has an address-like appearance being typed as a URL. My mistake.

I can’t access from the web either I turned my WiFi off and tried by ip address and nothing it’s like really where is the support team

@bobbyD

I don’t quite follow this.

You turned your phone’s WiFi off, presumably to force it to use its cellular data connection.

But then you tried to access your hub by its IP address from your phone’s web browser?

That won’t work because you disconnected from your local network and your hub’s IP address is a local address that can’t be accessed from outside your Local Area Network.

Have you confirmed the hub is up and running by trying to browse to its IP address while your phone is connected to WiFi?

I think you might be miss understanding yes I turned off my WiFi to use cellular data, but I cannot access the dashboards like you’re supposed to be able to on cellular data. but that was not the topic of this post i will deal with the the url problem later main post was about having trouble with getting a spinning circle when I open the app and have to hit the Home button to get it to stop.

Sorry for the inconvenience. This is a known issue that ee thought was fixed. Will have our developers investigate again. Thanks for your feedback. Could you please make sure you are running the latest version of the app.

Yes I think I understand the problem you described in the OP.

But I’m confused by the troubleshooting steps you’ve mentioned, and I’m wondering if you have confirmed the hub is otherwise working as intended.

I think you said that you turned off WiFi and then tried to access a dashboard via its IP address.

Did you try to access any dashboards by their direct cloud URL while your phone’s WiFi was turned off? That would be the only way to get to them if you’re not connecting locally.

Again, the hub’s IP address won’t work when connecting via cellular.

Have you tried connecting to the dashboards by their direct local URL while you’re still connected to your home’s LAN?

Do you have automations that are still working as intended? If so, that would help confirm the hub is running and would narrow the issue down to something related to its IP network connection or the mobile app itself.

Thank you
And yes I’m on the latest firmware

Sorry I am just checking back in since yesterday but I am glad you had others also help. Looks like you are in real good hands.

Does the same dashboard come up fine in the browser while on LAN?
If yes, can you PM me you hub's id? I'll check the engineering logs on the hub.

I see this as well I had really not done any investigation. I just now went through to see if I can duplicate this behavior. Sometimes I open it and it's fine sometimes not.

I found that if I close, completely close not just send to background, the app and open it then it always starts spinning. If I swipe to background and then reopen, it refreshes but opens on the last dashboard I had open. I have the option set to start last dashboard. I tried with that option off and I get the same results it starts spinning if I shut the app down and restart.

I also get the same result while on my local network or if I am using cellular data. Also it's the same on cellular with or without my VPN on.
