Possible issue with ethernet chip in c8 pro

Hub lost internet again.. alternating blinking red and green light.

I think the issue is if the switch it is connected to (managed trendnet teg-3102ws) reboots (i had made a change on the switch and it rebooted) the hub is not renegotiating the connection.

Everything else connected to the switch works and comes back up.

For now, I did change the connection in the switch to 100 fixed.

It was already set to 100 fixed in the hub, that may be the issue. if it is set to fixed it never negotiates a connection and just assumes it will work.

For now i think setting the switch as well to fixed seems to work (it did in my subsequent test) but someone may want to look into the code in the hub firmware to make sure it tries to renegotiate the connection after a loss.

I never had this issue on the older c8, and i know the switch was rebooted. Not sure if the ethernet port and related s/w changed in the pro or not.. or maybe i just have a bad one..

Last time the network reset button on the bottom fixed it, but if the house is empty as it often is that is not an acceptable workaround.

So this time i rebooted the switch through s/w and force (through a wifi switch) rebooted the hub, Of course that corrupted the database, (but at least i can do it if away from the house).

I then got into the diagnostic interface, did a soft reset and restored (an older backup not the one it just created as that obviously would be corrupted)..

Unfortunately i do have to reboot my switches when for instance switching over from main public facing router to backup or switching from main private subnet/wifi router/dhcp routers to backup, so that the change is picked up. I have backup hardware for everything.

Another workaround i think, would be if i remember to shutdown the hub before i reboot the switch and then after bring it back up with the kasa wifi switch.

I believe the recommended way is to have both hub and switch negotiate the speed. Have you tried that combination yet?

yes that is what it was set too when it first occured a couple opf days ago.. that is why i believe it is not renegiating it when the switch reboots.

You could use a program like : rustdesk < https://rustdesk.com
Or : HopToDesk < https://www.hoptodesk.com
Both are free software that you can use to login to a computer on your network.
then you could login to the hub on 8081 and reboot it ?
Kinda of a easy way to fix stuff if you are away from the house ..

What are u talking abiut. Not when the hub is not connected to the switch.

Ummmm .. The hub is not connected to your network ?

Read the post .. that is what the green and red akternating light means. Thr hub is not reconnecting when the switch reboots.

Sorry .. I was not in my brain .. right .. the HUB is not connected because it can not get a IP ?
Well you still could use this to reboot your router / Switch ..

No its not the router rebooting that doesnt help. The hub is not even asking for an ip. It first has to negotiate and reconnect to the switch port.
