Pool / Spa Actuator - Looking for a rule for a ZEN 16 to lock out 1 relay while operating the other

Good Morning.
Sorry if i asked this before...ive been asking a lot of pool questions. Im testing a system before i install it for a friend.

I have a pool actuator valve connected to a zen 16. Its a 3 wire / 2 position pool actuator valve.
One wire is common.
Connect up the other wire to the 24v AC - the valve will rotate from 0 to 180 degrees
Connect up the other wire to 24v AC - the valve will rotate from 180 to 0 degrees.

This will allow me to direct flow form the pump to either pool or the spa - depending on which side of the relay i power.

My concern is that its frowned upon to power both sides of the actuator at the same time so i was wondering how i could lock out relay 2 when relay 1 was powered and vice versa.

The actuator takes about 35 seconds to move from one position to the other...so its easy enough to make sure that the relay is only powered for say 45 seconds by using the auto off.

I use simple automations more than anything else so im not sure how to go about making a rule so they both relay and relay 2 cannot be powered at the same time.

Appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks
Mac

Adding on to this.
I was thinking i would have a dashboard with 2 icons. One Pool The other Spa.
I suppose yui could do this with a toggle button.
Toggle it one way...Pool Relay Forced off / Spa Relay turned on
Toggle it the other way. Spa Relay forced off / Pool relay turned on

Not sure if this would give me the condition of which is activated however. At least with dual buttons ( at long as i don't use the auto off on the relay) the last button pressed would remain powered and that should show up in the dashboard.

More ford for thought.

Is the rule this simple?

Ideally i think the opposite relay has to be set to off before the one needed is turned on.

thanks

A hardware solution would be:

Purchase a 24Vac relay. Usually they are DPDT. If you wire your two valves, one to the normally closed contact and the other to the normally open contact, it will be impossible to power both valves at the same time.

Seems simple enough......so powered off...the relay would pass power to the NC switch....when powered on would pass power to the NO switch?

Would pebbly set it up so pool mode would be the default NC with power off and Spa mode when powered on.

Thats a better solution then trying to work a rule.
Buying one today!

Update.
My zen 16 and the DPDT dry contact relay showed up today. Works flawless. The default mode ( de energized coil) passes power though the NC relay and drives the actuator to pool mode.
When the DPDT relay is energized it sends power to the other wire on the actuator and it moved to spa mode.
I use the zen to send 24v to the coil of the DPDT
De energized….pool
Energized …spa

Don’t have to worry about any rules to make sure both wires on the actuator aren’t powered at the same time.

That was a great suggestion. Thanks.
Couple more things to sort then install at a friends house
