I'll be purchasing some very large vinyl roller shades.
a. My household has color and aesthetic requirements.
b. I have a wish (requirement?) that Hubitat can control it.
After HOURS of searching over 2 weeks, it appears there are no motorized roller shades that meet requirement a. I'm fine with this as long as I can retrofit it with a motor that can be controlled by Hubitat, and that can stay plugged in (it is in a location where I can get a wire to a plug totally hidden, so I refuse to deal with recharging at this location).
- What are the best retrofit motors that work from plug power and with Hubitat? Far prefer Zwave or Zigbee.
- Do these retrofit motors work on very large roller shades such as a 9'x9' size?
Have you looked at Leviosa shades. I have their older version which are RF controlled and I use a bond Hub to control them. MIne are also battery powered, they use 8 D size batteries. They last about 2 years, before you have to change them.
Their newest version are matter. They have battery, hardwired, or plug in power options It looks like they can accommodate the size as well.
You could perhaps fit a tubular motor into the roller. For an AC model the cable would have open (line), close (line), neutral and earth. That would connect to a mains powered Z Wave or Zigbee shutter module to which you could also connect a retractive switch for local control. That's pretty much how my curtain motors operate (as does my roller shutter garage door)
Thank you. Looked at their website. Their total blackout fabric only has 3 options that are the same color on both sides (ie not white on the back side) and none of those 3 colors are what my household is seeking, so I guess they are out. I was hopeful....
Yes - there are retrofit kits that fit into the roller. I was hoping someone has some recommendations on a specific brand and/or model...
