Please make Hub Variable names darker

It is probably just me, but on the Hub Variable page found in settings, I have a hard time reading the variable names because they are light orange. Anyway to make them darker?

I have both Orange and Black titles for Hub variables. It is not clear why some are black, but I agree the orange ones are hard to see on a white background.

Hi, the black names are hub variables that are not used by Rule Machine. I wish they would swap it so unused variables are light orange and the others black

Ah. I don't use Rule Machine, so it appears that the orange indicates that the variable is in use in any app, not just RM.

I did not know this. Thanks for the info.

Thanks. I have hub variables used in Maker API and they display black, so Im not sure how it works. I do know if a hub variable is only used in Rule Machine, it turns black if I remove all its references.

Did you hit "Done" after authorizing these variables in Maker API?

Hi, yes I hit Done. The variables have been populating for a year now as can be seen below. Notice how much harder the orange names are to read:)

I just tested and was not able to replicate the problem where hub variables in use by Maker API do not turn orange. (This is what that is supposed to mean -- that some app has registered the hub variable as in use -- not anything with Rule Machine specifically.) Can you hit "Done" again and see if that changes anything, and see if Maker API throws any errors in "Logs" if not?

As for the orange itself ... looks like this is just CSS "orange" and however your browser interprets that (I don't know if this is standardized but it looks like it?). I can't speak to any possible changes there, though if your browser lets you override anything, that would be what to look for in the meantime.

Hi Bert, I opened MAPI and pressed Done button again. No change. I took a snapshot of the variables configured in MAPI. I see that "Mom’s Still Timer” is not configured so I could delete that hub variable since it is not used. But the "Moms Max Still Timer Today” variable is configured yet it displays orange in the Hub Variables page.

Orange is what I'd expect in this scenario.

Im sorry, it displays black.

I even unchecked the "Moms Max Still Timer Today” and hit Update then Done. Then opened MAPI again and added "Moms Max Still Timer Today” back in, hit Update then Done. Variable is still black.

That makes sense!

So still odd. I'd wonder if it has something to do with the non-ASCII character in your variable name, but I tested one and it didn't cause any problems. I didn't test that particular one, so I suppose it still may be something very specific (you have a true right single quotation mark and not the ' character, if you weren't aware). If it still works -- and sends data over Maker API when it changes -- I suppose that's all that really matters, but I can't make this part not work myself, either, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Yeah I get it. I was a SW developer for 30 years, and sometimes there are trivial bugs that just are not worth the effort to fix. Talk to the Hub Variable page designer and ask him to make undefined variables orange and defined variables black. He is killing my eyes LOL.
