Physical events in Rule Machine

Hi, I tried to do something with the "physical" event in this case from a lock as the trigger but noticed it was not possible (at least not obviously). Could we add physical event filter to the custom attribute please? maybe just a toggle to be able to turn it on for the event please?

I'm surprised that is not possible in RM, I don't see that option either. I would just use Webcore, however, where this option is available.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that locks report 'physical' vs 'digital'. If you have one that does, please show the logs that reflect that. It would show in the Type column of the device events.

Separately, why are you needing Custom Attribute for a lock?

My Alfred DB2-B does show digital and physical events.

But I don’t know why one would need that either

The built-in driver for the Alfred lock does (I have model DB1-C, which is Z-Wave and Bluetooth). The lock reports [physical] for anything done on the lock itself and [digital] when locked/unlocked via HE or Bluetooth (with Alfred's phone app). Quite useful.

As a workaround I just set a variable to %text% and search the string for either digital or physical in the rule actions.

My old as dirt Schlage reports both digital/physical as well. So it must be somewhat common?

Yes I have a matter lock via thread. It's a nuki lock, I'll add the image when I'm on laptop.

For the physical event, the normal lock just has lock/ unlocked etc. so I tried custom.

You could add physical event to the standard lock which would be great but then you need to do that for all things really. In this case I used custom attributes as the edge cases when you want to do something that the main standard parts don't do.

So it makes sense to add it to both of possible as a cover all.

Use case in this case is the matter lock does not report who unlocked it, so when we are away and it's physical unlocked I know the hub needs to be put in guest mode.
