Need some help. So I have 6 Philips Hue 5/6β recessed bulbs on one circuit 3 way. I have tried an inovelli Red dimmer and a regular non smart Lutron dimmer. 5 lights work as they should. However, when I screw in the 6th light they all stop working on the non smart. On the inovelli red they blink really fast. Any ideas?
you are not supposed to have smart bulbs on physical dimmers.. they can dim via signals but not a physical reduction in power as they need to have full power.. maybe the power is dropping too low.
IIRC, Inovelli's are an exception since they have a Smart Bulb mode where they turn off the internal relay/dimmer circuits and send the signals to the hub instead which then sends the on/off or dim request to the bulbs.
What happens when you screw in dumb bulbs?
So if I have 5 smart bulbs on the inovelli red and then screw in the 6th as a dumb bulb they all stay on. When I replace it with a smart bulb the three way switch acts up and powers down. On the dumb switch everything just powers off and wonβt turn in until I out the 6th light in as a dumb bulb.
I am thinking I need to order a non dimmer switch, but not sure. I guess I could test it by just taking the dimmer out and wire nut the other side.
that is the way i have my hue bulbs anyway just a zwave dimmer switch that i control and the line to load wired permanently on. Then i use rules and apps to control
