I'd like to be able to pass a string to a "Notify everyone that is Home" or "Notify everyone that is Away" Rule - where the string is the notification text of course.
Just so I'm a bit clearer on what's preventing you from doing this already in RM-5.1, have you explored building the Send a Message string using a rule Variable, using the component strings...
Use %device% to include event device name, %value% to include event value, %text% to include event description text, %time% to include event time, %date% to include event date, %now% for current time. To include a variable value use %variable-name%.
And is "Notify" an Action in your RM rule, or another entity like the Notifications app?
