Pairing Debug - Zigbee Ikea Vintage bulbs

Hey,

OK, so this is driving me crackers! I've got a zigbee network, which has not caused me any problems really, apart from these ikea vintage bulbs. I've had one a while and it's been fine since i had problem pairing it. I'm doing some home decorating soon, so bought 4 more. (@£10, bargain) played with them, and i am confident i understand how to get them into pairing mode, as the bulb flashes away for about 2 mins... I've put it right next to the hub, but it just doesn't pair... I can't see anything in any logs, (Apart form the start/stop discovery in the main log)

I've searched the forum, i'd love to get theses working, and i've got 1 working from a while ago, but i am at a loss as to what to try next. Can someone point me in the direction of some tips/tricks, some more logs? etc...?

I'd love to help out basically and get them working not just for me, but available for others too!

Thanks,

I have found this to work consistently

I put the hub in discovery mode, then do the reset.
"I found that you have to do the on/offs quickly for them to register, within a second for each, if that makes sense. Get them in a lamp base with a decent switch you can flick quickly. I always did 7 on’s, I starting with the bulb off go, on 1, off, on 2, off, on 3, off, on 4, off , on 5, off, on 6, off, on 7…, this should take you 5-6 seconds, then it should flicker."

It works for me every single time.

Hey,

Yep, i've got loads of other ikea bulbs, and this process works... Once you master this dance, it's fine. However, with the vintage ones, it's just not working.

After I posted, one of them just worked. can't get the rest. No idea what i am doing when it works...

Hey,

@furom - Amazing! Thats been bugging me for a LONG time!
I was doing it more than 6 times, and it was doing the flashing thing to suggest it was in pairing mode, but just wouldn't pair. When i got a routine as you described above, it was flawless as you say.

I suspect there is a bug somewhere in there, as what i was doing should have worked, but not worried about that.

Thanks loads! Means i can carry on with my slightly funky decoration plans, without "De smarting" things...

Thanks

Old topic, but I have a solution. I have several old Ikea Trådfri bulbs, an they didn't pair to HE. I paired them to the Ikea's own hub, and it updated their firmwares automatically. After updating the bulbs pair with HE like charm. (Well, almost. They were recognized as outlets and the type must be set manually as a general zigbee bulb)

I have also read that after firmware update they will generate very stabile zigbee repeater mesh
