Override 'excessive load' policy

Hi folks,

I have a C8 hub that's basically dedicated to running alarm-related rules built on the Envisalink integration. Recently, and with no discernable change/reason, it's started generating excessive load according to the Hub's definition.

I've restored earlier platform versions to see if that was it--no joy. I've restored to wayyyyy earlier backups and combined various platforms permutations with various backups--no joy.

@Hubitat_Staff or anyone else in the know: can I change the ceiling on these policies/throttles?

Thx!

Have you tried increasing this threshold value?

Thx. That was the first thing I did, I upped that to 2000.

The error I'm seeing here appears to be more about CPU load than event generation rate claiming that the Envisalink process (after an hour or so of uptime) consumed 78.5% CPU utilization.

You are right; this is something that the HE crew must look into. Searching this forum for 'Envisalink ' reveals others reporting the same problem too.

Then reboot. It will change the threshold from default (33) to 100.

Done. :+1:

Thanks so much in optimistic hopes that this works! I'll post back when I've reached a conclusion.

100 didn't persist following a warm reboot; 99 did persist but I changed two things: 1) I lowered the policy to 99 from 100 and 2) cold-booted it.

Time will tell... thanks again!

You beat me to it

Ah, the cold-boot?

No.. the lower setting

Interesting, the endpoint actually returns the range (something to 100) when I tried throwing Hex at it so it seems there's a small bug in there somewhere.

Anyway, really appreciate the input!

Not one undesirable event logged--seems like it's working. :+1:

Still, I'd love to understand the root cause since this issue appears to be widespread.
