Outdoor Lighting setup

I have looked around the thread to see what others are doing when it comes to out door lighting.

I have a back yard and would like to have a couple flood lights and haven't seen any ideas what others are using. I would like to have flood light and have motion but also want to turn the motion detection off so the lights would stay on while the kids are out back.

Is anybody have recommendations for something like that. Do you use an all in one or a separate motion detector. I don't have much in the way of cover so hope that it would work in all the elements.

Thank you

Depends on costs IMO.

I try to keep my projects as cheap as possible with ease of replacement in mind if and when something somewhere breaks.

More of a DIY route, but I use standard AC PIR sensors in tandem, connected via relays to a nodemcu, in turn hooked up to a floodlight.

Absolutely eliminated the false positives of outdoor Motion detection. Plus the PIRs are literally less than ten quid.

Off the shelf and higher cost? Seems the Hue mentioned my @anon81541053 is the way to go.

=)

I’ve got a couple of ways to do it, but for an all in one solution I took this:

and added it to a standard flood light. Allows me to use (or ignore the motion) depending on what rules and virtual switches are in effect.

I have three of the HS-FLS100+ that I added into existing security light fixtures around the entry areas to my house. They have worked quite well and are pretty darn responsive. I use them to not only control the lights they are mounted to but have Rules to trigger nearby lights as well that I put Innovelli bulbs into.

Are you only looking for security/general area lighting or are you also looking for controllable accent/decorative lighting?

Another option is Sengled's Zigbee outdoor flood with built-in motion. Works well.

The motion settings of the flood light can be altered via the Sengled hub.

What I have yet to test is; if changed via the Sengled hub, do the settings get saved to the blub allowing them to be move back to HE after updating? Another 'someday' project. (when the hell is someday? )

Has anyone here done that, and know the answer?
