Outdoor keypad?

I'm working on a project to install electric strikes for my front door locks, and the last thing that's missing is some sort of outdoor-compatible keypad. Do any of the commercially available outdoor keypads support sending specifics (code, etc.) back into Hubitat? Willing to get a little hacky if needed...

I used this for an outdoor keypad tied to a konnected IO to sense the contact (but you can use a zwave device or anything to do that part.) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KO0XWW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There is another Zigbee keypad by Frient. Other Frient products are now listed with Hubitat drivers. Mike is working on the driver for Hubitat. Available on Amazon. It's key lit and sells for around $80 USD
Unfortunately don't know when or even IF the driver will become available. All I know Mike has acknowledged he is working on it but no timeframe. I therefore have no knowledge how good it will be.

There's no way that is an outdoor rated keypad though, right? Sure looks like it would be indoors only to me...

I agree. Looking at the build on Amazon, it doesn't look outdoor worthy, however, if you check their website it states :

Environment

  • For indoor and outdoor use
  • Operation temperature: 0 to +50°C

I'm with you as far as outdoor durability. Maybe under an overhang, but not just out in the rain without protection. Check their website for more info. For me I'm looking for it for indoor use.

Interesting, I didn't see that. Thanks for correcting me!

Thinking out loud here....this could be even more useful if it could be used for more than a "once-and-done" entry code. Never thought about these from this angle.

What if you could set this up to where you punched in an access code,
the access code's validity/acceptance is visually or audibly confirmed somehow,

AND THEN for some set time this keypad would behave like a multi-button device which you'd have a Rule configured to take various actions depending on what is pressed.

Thinking an outdoor environment wherein you might want guests/visitors/watch to be able to turn on/off outdoor lighting, fans, water spigot/valve, and arming/disarming HSM as a button push separate from the primary access code.

Right now a concealed and waterproof encased multi-button device could serve this purpose...but that's not very secure.

I like that idea. You could use a combination, enter a code on the keypad which would do some sort of enable for the other buttons.

I’m not familiar with this device and how it fills in attributes.. What if you created a rule that when entering in a unique code it turns on a virtual switch for a set number of time.. Then configure rules for each number that have a condition to only run when the virtual switch is on.

Yeah, somebody who has it is going to have to tell us it we can make it work like that.
I like your approach.
