I need to purchase another Sonos speaker, and was thinking about getting the Symfonisk picture frame speaker. I know the sound from the Symfonisk lamp and bookshelf speakers is excellent. But I haven't read many opinions on the picture frame speaker.
Would love to hear from someone who is using one. This is the speaker I'm referring to:
We have two in our house, set up in stereo mode and connected to Hubitat. Combined with custom covers, we are quite satisfied with the setup.
These were our first Sonos/Symfonisk speakers, so I cannot yet compare to others. They were good enough to convince us to commit to the platform. While typing, my wife just told me that our 3 bookshelf speakers were delivered for other rooms.
We just bought one of the picture frame speakers to try out and are very impressed with it. I’m used to listening to custom built speakers and have never been impressed with the sound of other small speakers, but I was immediately impressed by this. I would definitely buy it again. Ours is mounted above the closet door in the bathroom. The wife loves that it doesn’t take up any usable space and it’s not really noticeable hanging on the wall. Also has worked flawlessly so far with airplay.
@Hatallica, @Ken_Fraleigh, I'm also looking at one of these as unfortunately the v2 bookshelf version has yet to be released here in Australia. As a side question (apologies to @aaiyar as this isn't a HE question!) do you guys find the wall mounting to transmit more sound to the room on the other side? It's intended for use in an apartment and the only convenient spot is on a common brick wall.
No. It just hangs from a cushioned hanger that comes with it, and I haven’t noticed any vibrations against the wall with it cranked all the way up (which is the level my wife was listening to it at earlier btw).
Ours are on exterior walls, so I don't have firsthand experience. My gut feeling aligns with the others, though. I might be concerned about drywall or paneling, but would not expect any issues with brick.
