Hello, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to open my garage door using my iris keypad. Is there anybody out there that is doing this? I could really use some help.
Yes, install Nyckelharpa lock manager. I use an Iris V2 Keypad to run automations based on a pin code.
are you referring to this?
[Nyckelharpa, an HSM Extension]
Yes, create an account under it that triggers the "Panic" and tie that to opening the garage door.
Is there a way to do this with RM and not having to install another app?
Ideally, you would create a code that JUST opened the Garage as opposed to arming/disarming HSM too.
Unless I am missing something I do not see in HSM where you can tell what codes to use. It seems it is all or nothing.
Jason,
So, after seeing what you are trying to do, I would highly recommend the use of a button controller to raise your door. Unless you want the opening of the door to be by code for security reasons. Can you enlighten me and then I will be able to make a better suggestion.
Scott
I actually figured it out. I don't need my keypad to control HSM, so by removing the keypad from HSM it now lets me use RM to do the functions I want by code. Thanks for assisting.
Can you elaborate, I'm a little confused about what you ended up doing.
I have a couple of those keypads myself that I'm not using.
I wanted to be able to open my garage door using the keypad and close as well. I wanted this to be sepearte form HSM. So as I do not need the use of keypad in HSM I removed it. By doing that it seems the rules I built started to work. So if you use pin code to disarm it opens the garage door and no pincode with off closes the door.
I also added in presence so if my parents use the keypad and my family is not home it will disarm HSM and open the door and then the opposite when the leave.
My keypad is actually inside my garage. I have a MyQ keypad outdoors and so if a family member comes home without a presence device, they can key in the MyQ code to open the garage door. My Centralite keypad in the garage is dedicated to arming/disarming HSM if you do not have a presence device. That lets me assign codes for HSM. Right now, the garage to house access door still has a dumb lock because I am not happy with the physical security of Smart Locks.
I am leaning in the direction of a Schlage Connect Z-Wave lock, but I am watching for new products actively.
Glad you got it working Jason.
I was Leary about my garage door being automated as well. I came up with a very cool solution for.myself. I use tasker to manage my presence and tasker sends to the presence via end point. Here is the cool part. I have a smart plug on the garage door itself. When the house is armed that smart plug gets turned off. That cuts all power to the garage door. I have tasker send an on or off to that plug 1st before presence so the garage door will turn back on or off so presence will open the door. This 100% eliminates any false open or close at all. Basically nobody without code or presence can open that door period.
