Old z-wave Ecolink motion sensor

I have an older z-wave ecolink motion sensor, PIR-ZWAVE2 (not PIR-ZWAVE2.5 as noted in the Device add screen). Is there any way to add this? It excludes correctly, and the device will stop blinking immediately after I start the inclusion process. But then nothing. The process times out and there is no sign of it in the z-wave settings page (so no ghosts).

Any tips on how to get this device working?

It is a z-wave device (not z-wave+), so pairing has to occur directly with the controller. I would recommend trying to include it ~2 feet away from the hub.

Go in same room as hub. Remove battery after excluding. Insert battery, start pairing mose and hold down button in detector till found.
