Been using Inovelli Red dimmers/switches with Hubitat last couple months; happy. But I've been getting more into using the lights as notifications and that drew me towards the HomeSeer WD-200 Dimmer that has seven status LEDs. Big plans for these LEDs on the kitchen dimmer... dog has been fed breakfast, dog had afternoon pill, dog had dimmer, cat had pill, etc. Light is installed and working, including Dashboard / Alexa / GH via the built in driver. But the built in driver seems to have no options compared to my Inovelli red dimmer, where I've successfully triggered light colors based on virtual switch conditions. It seems like before there was a community driver for this device but now it has been "withdrawn"?!?! How in the world do I get these LEDs set up now, as this was the main selling feature of the device for me (it's actually worse at dimming than my previous Inovelli in the same position, flickering more at lower levels). Please help! And remember, I'm pretty new at this. Thanks.
It's unfortunate that the community driver is no longer out there, but you can still get full functionality out of the Homeseer Dimmers. Make sure you read the Homeseer instruction manual fully, as you may need to set some parameters manually, but the community driver didn't change the way the LEDs are controlled, as I recall.
I went the opposite direction. I started with the Homeseer, then installed an Inovelli dimmer to see what the fuss was about. I had similar confusion around the Inovelli. It's all what you start and are familiar with. (The Inovelli is a fine unit, but there are enough differences between it and the Homeseer that it's hard to work with them at the same time.)
The specific setting/command you need to set to control the status LEDs is 'SetStatusLED'. (IIRC, the capitalization is different on the stock driver.) And you would trigger that with rules, like this:
That string means that I am controlling LED#6 (second from the top,) either red (1) or cyan (6,) and solid (0.)
I think the biggest difference is that you don't pre-define the LEDs on the Homeseer like you do on the Inovelli. On the Homeseer, a rule can make any/some/all of the LEDs do whatever you want at that moment. You are, however, limited to only 7 colors (plus off and blink) on the Homeseer.
Alright, thanks, will try that when I find some spare time here. I had read the "manual" that came with the switch in the box. But apparently there is a lot more verbose manual on the web that I found. Surprised I can't set an arbitrary RGB color, but I can live with the 7.
