Got this opportunity in my inbox today. There is no way I am hooking up faucets to Wi-Fi. Imagine a hacker disabling your sinks.
The pause feature if your washing your hands is neat, but who wants to add an extra step to hand washing?
"Hey Google, tell the kitchen sink to wash my hands."
"OK, playing screeching dog sounds on the bedroom TV."
I have a Moen motion sensor model, but not Wifi. I just got it because I liked the look of that one but actually the motion thing is very nice.
We have a touchless faucet in our kitchen. Very useful when dealing with chicken, etc..
That would be my main interest in a touchless/voice-controlled faucet too. Pretty helpful when you want to turn on the water but your hands are covered in something gross (as Rick’s usually are).
Alexa turn on kitchen faucet, Sorry I cannot find a kitchen facet!
I do like hands free on and off, I have one in the powder room and it works great. For kitchen if your hands are messy defiantly a plus. But you don't need it to be Wi-Fi connected to do that.
Only thing I could think is maybe to adjust settings or modes via an app? But that could easily just be Bluetooth direct from device to app. You could maybe track water usage by having it on Wifi but probably the real reason is so Moen can get data metrics to sell.
If they are giving that away to you to test though, I would for sure take it. Can always block the phone home junk and disconnect the Wifi totally after testing.
adding wifi to a faucet? they only asked themselves if they could, but no one ever asked if they should. i can understand the touchless ones that use sensors to turn it on, but i can't think of any good reason to have wifi other than saying "hey, my faucet has wifi"
- Remind you the faucet is on if someone leaves it running.
if in bathroom:
- Don't forget to wash your hands, triggered a few seconds after the toilet flushes.
if it knows water rate:
- Please lower the faucet, you are using too much water.
No mention of water use measuring.
Did anyone ever ask Marketing that?!
Hey now, no reason to bring up my ex-wife
Wifi all the things!!!!11!!!
I have had a Moen Wi-Fi faucet in my kitchen for 2-3 years with it linked to Alexa, It works great if you cook or bake, like I do. I can ask Moen to dispense an exact amount of water for a recipe or an exact amount at the exact temperature for baking. I can also ask for it to turn on at a set temperature.
It works for my needs.
That I like. Fill the pot with 6 quarts of water, don't have to sit there and watch it fill!
I have a kohler apple home enabled faucet in my kitchen. The touchless on and off is nice but that’s not necessary for touchless. I rarely use the voice feature and the only befit I’ve had is when cooking, in the kohler app you can tell it to measure out certain amounts of water. Useful for recipes.
We have a cat who turns on the kitchen faucet during the night. I could write a rule to turn off the faucet if left on too long during the night.
We have a wifi Fisher and paykel dishwasher at home. Took me 2 hours to get the damn thing connected to Wifi. Found out the only function with wifi is to start the dishwasher remotely. Nothing else.
That I really like! Does it include an insta-hot type of accessory? Or pass-through water in the pipes until at temp? I have the touchless Moen which we've really liked but now I have faucet envy. Our current faucet may have to "break" so that we need an upgrade.
Ours turns off after 4 minutes. It can be adjusted
